Today we enrolled Luke in a public charter school. It is a "co-enrollment" that coincides with his enrollment at St. John Orthodox Christian School. As a kindergartner, he will receive a $2200 allotment from the charter school for being enrolled in 4 classes throughout the upcoming school year:
1) Learning with Technology (he plays on the iPad - seriously, this is now a class)
2) Music (he was already signed up for piano lessons anyway)
3) PE (We were going to sign him up for swim lessons anyway)
4) Design Technology: Lego Robotics
So we came home with a Lego Robotics kit that allows Luke to build a lion, a bird, or an alligator. We then plug it into the computer and get to control some of the actions of the lego animal.
Luke could not wait to open this kit, so we started building the alligator tonight. 2 hours later, we were finished. I helped Luke put one piece in place: the piece on which the gears interlock. That's it. The rest he did by himself by figuring out and following the instructions.
He was so excited that I had to capture a video of it.
