Funny Things Luke has been saying

We are currently staying at the Days Inn in Allentown, PA, only about 5 minutes from St. Paul's (our parish assignment). After driving over 1,000 miles since last Saturday to make it to church services, we are now settled for the weekend in our new home away from home.

A little while ago, I decided to head to the ice machine for ice (duh). Luke wanted to come, so I asked him clearly, "Luke, do you want to go to the ice machine?" To which he replied, "mice machine". So we went together and got some "mice" for our room. The water tastes a bit funny with "mice" in it, but it does the trick.

Luke has been talking about a "big bump" in the road (actually, it's a railroad track crossing) that we must go over to get to the church from the hotel. He can say both "big" and "bump" clearly when we ask him, but when we ask him to say "big bump" he says "bee bop." I think he is doing this purposely, to show his innercity self to us.

Two days ago he learned how to say "chopper" in reference to a helicopter. He ran around the house for 10 minutes yelling "chopper." It was just hilarious.

We have some sippy cups for him that have different characters on the lid. One is Bob the Builder, so anything in this sippy cup is called "Bob Juice." One is Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, so this is "Or juice." The funniest is the cup with Winne the Pooh on it, for this is referred to by Luke as "Poo Juice." Yeah, I totally did a double take the first time I heard that.

He now says "diedey" when we change his diaper.

He still calls Fr. Ted "ted" or sometimes calls him "ded".

The best thing he has done recently is adamently venerate the cross and tomb of Christ this week. He is very good about making proper prostrations, as his head hits the ground almost on his toes (it kinda makes me cringe when I see it, because I have been able to bend like that since I was his age). He also likes to go back in line again after venerating the cross, and after receiving a rose tonight from the tomb of Christ, he thought it would be a good idea to use the rose as a weapon of small destruction. We have three roses in our room and know exactly which one is his: the one with some pedals missing.

Oh, Luke tries to say "Vaminos" when I say it. He hasn't got it right yet, but at least he's trying.

Have a blessed Pascha.
