Luke is 2.5 years old. He acts like it sometimes, mostly late at night when he doesn't want to go to sleep. Though he exasperates us occasionally, he does give us morsels of great moments that show off his intelligence (or lack thereof sometimes) and make us smile. Here are a few of the recent ones that are worth sharing, or at least writing down so that we can read this blog years from now and lavish in nostalgia.
After Vespers Saturday night, I was buckling Luke into his car seat. There was a dog barking at a neighboring house. Luke said, "I hear dog barking." The funny thing is that because of the way he says his d's and b's, it came out like this, "I ear gog parking."

Luke was helping us clear the table after we had a lunch of leftovers. I gave him a small container of breaded cajun salmon to take to the kitchen. He held it and exclaimed, "Look, mouse poop!" Then he walked into the kitchen and said, "Look Aunt Mare-mare! Mouse poop!" I guess it was because there were loose bread crumbs in the container. It caused much hilarity.

Last night, Anastasia was driving us all home from the seminary after a St. Nicholas Day party. Hannah was unusually fussy, crying extensively for a few minutes (she's normally sleeping in her car seat when we are driving). We were driving on a back country road with lots of twists and bends, hills and valleys. So I sarcastically reassured Hannah from the front seat, "Oh Hannah-nana, it's ok. I know Mama's driving is making you get tossed around. I don't like it either." Then right on cue, Luke started laughing really loud. "HAHAHA!" We all burst with laughter, even Anastasia. I turned around, gave Luke a high five and a fist bump for his impeccable comedic timing, and then, amazingly, Hannah was quiet for the remaining 10 minutes home.
