Michigan

I can't believe Lent is already over and we are in the midst of Holy Week. I feel like me life is a bit out of control right now but after Pascha I am sure everything will be back to it's "normal" self.
We just got back from Michigan Monday morning at 2am. Matthew did a wonderful job with his youth retreat and we were treated like royalty at St Mary's. From what I can tell (because I wasn't actually at the retreat) the kids had a great time. Matthew's first attempt to get the kids involved at answering questions was a bit disappointing, as it goes with teens, but as soon as he brought out the suckers they were ready and eager to give answers, even if it was wrong!! I think the kids were really "moved by the suckers" at first and then hopefully they were "moved by the Spirit" after the suckers were gone!! :) Anyway, Matthew's two lectures went well on Friday night and on Saturday the youth retreats service project was Kids Against Hunger, and they made over 10,000 meals to be distributed to food pantry's and shelters all over the world!! YEAH!!! We were planing on leaving Michigan Monday morning bright and early (aka 4am) but we ended up leaving Sunday afternoon because of yucky weather preventing us from going outside and a lack of exciting things to do. It was a long drive in the dark but it was really good to sleep in our own beds and be home Monday morning. Hannah was up at 6:30am as usual but at least I could take her down stairs so Matthew could sleep in. (He slept till noon!)

We leave again this Thursday for Emmaus for another long weekend in a hotel. (Hotels just aren't that wonderful with two kids, they need to put in playgrounds.) We will spend Pascha at St Paul's there and come home Sunday evening! I cant wait till after Pascha when we can go for picnics at the park. Of course that means the rain need's to go away and the sun needs to shine. Maybe next week!!

Other than going from hotel to home to hotel to home not much is going on. Hannah has a cold and has now decided that she needs to sleep on me all night. That has made it a bit harder for both of us to sleep, but it won't last forever. Being sick has made her more of a cuddle bug and that's sweet. She's on my lap right now kicking the computer as I am trying to type. Oh well, you have to enjoy the little things in life even if it does make your computer bounce!!

I hope everyone has a blesses Pascha and I hope we all make it through this very busy week with enough strength to CELEBRATE/PARTY on the other side. I can smell the bacon now!
Christ is (almost) Risen!!

"as soon as he brought out the suckers they were ready and eager to give answers"

When I first read that sentence I thought you were calling the kids 'suckers' and that maybe he took them out and roughed up a few of those suckers.

I'm glad I read it wrong and that Matthew did not have to resort to beating up kids at the retreat

Well, you know, seminary is a rough place. I had to learn how to fight amidst all the warfare, so I had no problem taking these kids from the suburbs of Detroit outside to "get their attention." And boy, you take those suckers out and the kids will talk faster than Loose Lips Louie.

So feel free to read that line however you want. Whichever way makes you respect me more, that's what happened. :)
