Our friend and fellow seminarian is from Texas, and his response to Christ is Risen is--Yer Darn Tootin!! We got a good laugh and if your not laughing try thinking about it at 2:30 in the morning after being in church for 3hr!! Then it's really funny!!
Our Pascha service went much better than expected. Luke slept the whole time. He fell asleep before the service, slept through the service and slept all the way home from the service and until 7 this morning. It was great!! Hannah on the other hand was up and down the whole time. She slept next to Luke for a good hour but when Fr Andrew came out and was hollering CHRIST IS RISEN at the top of his voice she popped up out of surprise and never went fully back to sleep. In fact I think everyone in church jumped, Fr Andrew was so loud. I thought that since she was awake for most of the service and all of the feasting afterword that she would sleep in....OH NO, she was awake bright and early at 7am even though she didn't get to sleep till 3:30am. Crazy girl!
After the service here at St Paul's everyone enjoyed a big breakfast together. There was soooo much meat..it was GREAT!! I had made my traditional pigs in a blanket, pork wrapped in pork, and may have eaten to many. My system is a bit upset this morning. There was chicken, ham, more ham, 4 or 5 different keshes, grape leaves with beef, kibee, and other things I can't even remember.
The kids woke up this morning to open some special eggs from Yaya and Gampa Eric and Uncle Ike and Aunt Marmar and ate chocolate and sweet bread for breakfast. How wonderful Pascha morning is!
Since we are all up now, thanks to the kids, we will start packing up our hotel room and then head to some friends house for lunch at noon. I don't think we will make it to Agape Vespers this afternoon but if we do, we have been invited to another lunch afterward. We'll see how much feasting the kids can handle.
