Potty Training Has Begun!!

In her "pretty dress" at her uncle Matthew's ordination to the deaconate at the village, which she has unfortunately outgrown but keeps asking for. Maybe we can get her another one for her papa's ordination this summer.

Well, here we are. Another day, another child, another journey through potty training. I have to say I am a bit wary of this one. Hannah is about 6 months younger than Luke was when he potty trained and that was a struggle at times. But here we go. She is acting ready so I have decided to give it a try.

A few days ago Hannah was very aware of every time she peed, (well she has been for a few months but she has been getting steadily more aware) ...anyway, she would take her diaper off every time she peed, which isn't so bad except she apparently pees a LOT!! I think she may have gone through almost 10 diaper in one day, which is ridicules. I don't have that kind of money fro diapers, there expensive. So the next day when she started striping off diapers like a crazy girl again, I put her in Luke's undies. (Yes Lukes, I am too cheep to go and buy her new ones until she is really potty trained, she can have all the accidents she want's in Luke's, he need new ones anyway.) Of course it didn't go well at first and a few pairs of undies later ended her back in diapers. (She actually asked for her diaper, it was really cute.) We went through a couple days of that and then...dun, dun, dun...she pooped in the potty!

Yes, yesterday Hannah pooped in the potty! It was awesome! Luke and I made a huge deal about it and the kidos got BIG marshmallows. I thought it was probably a fluke and didn't think too much about it. She was on and off the potty all day, had a few accidents and was in diapers before dinner. I thought it was a good try and we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Today, Hannah peed, pooped and peed again! She peep in the potty this morning for me. We of course made a huge deal about it because she has been pretending to pee in the potty for months, just like Luke. Her face was so cute when she realized she was actually peeing. We has marshmallows again (little ones this time, small for pee because she goes so often and big for poop because hopefully that is only once a day). She went all after noon with no more successes. She did however pee in her high chair during lunch. That was fun. She stated to frantically whine "pee in potty, pee in potty", but it was too late. Oh well. Later in the evening I went to the store and while I was shopping got a call from a very happy little girl who had just pooped in the potty. Hannah had told Matthew she needed to go poopy in the potty, and he didn't really believe her but put her on the potty anyway. He walked away to do something and a minute later she goes running down the hall saying "I pooped in the potty." Well she had and thankfully Matthew got her back to the bathroom quickly to clean up her bottom! :) Of course there were marshmallows involved, BIG ones.

It is now 12:40am and about 40min ago I took two kidos to the bathroom with two successes. Luke woke up and had to pee, and when I brought him back to bed Hannah woke up and said she had to pee too. I didn't believe her, but in the spirit of keeping up with the potty training I took her anyway. We should really start believing her! :)

Oh I just remembered a funny story Matthew told me. While I was gone shopping Hannah apparently peed in her undies, took them off and got new ones all on her own. She brought the new ones to Matthew so he could help her put them on.
Matthew: Hannah what are these for?
Hannah: New undies
Matthew: Why do you need new undies?
Hannah: Pee peed.
Matthew: Hannah where did you pee pee?
Hannah: In undies
Matthew: Hannah, where were you standing when you peed?
Hannah: In undies

Thankfully Matthew did find the little puddle on the floor and cleaned it up before it got stepped in and we had little pee footprints everywhere. :) It is nice that she takes off her dirty undies and puts them in the laundry by her self, although I don't look forward to the day she tries to take off poopy undies by herself. YUCK!

Time to try and go to bed again. Maybe I will actually fall asleep this time.

Oh I hope everyone remembered to turn their clocks ahead last nigh. We totally forgot and consequently woke up late. We were supposed to all go visit a different church to do some research for Matthews thesis but the kids and I didn't make it. Luke wasn't feeling well anyway so because we needed to have left 30 minutes before we actually woke up, I opted to stay home with the kids. Oh well, we went to pre-sanctification twice last week and we will go again this Wed so we are kind of making up for missing today...right.
