Off to see the Wizard...

We are off to see the wizard the wonderful wizard of oz...

Actually we are off to see Grandma Joyce the wonderful grandma of Sacramento. Matthew's grandma Joyce (Fr Stephen's mom) was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer yesterday. She was given 4 weeks to live (more or less) and so a large number of her family will be descending upon her this weekend, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister and spouses of some of the above. Fr Stephen was able to bring her back to her own house where she will be taken care of by him and one of her grandchildren. Fr Stephen thankfully has a whole bunch of sick leave and will not have to return to work until he is ready to after Grandma passes on.

We will only be able to be with her a short while however (Thur-Sun) as Matthew will be having knee surgery next Tue morning.

Grandma lost her husband and two daughters many years before but still has two surviving children, Fr Stephen and Jennifer. (Jennifer has severe downs and lives in a state hospital.) Grandma does however have at least, I thing 9 grandchildren and at least 9 great grandchildren but I think more. 13 of us, that I know of, will be going to see her this weekend.
