BLOOD!

I was sleeping soundly having a weird dream about something though I don't remember what, when all of a sudden I am being shaken awake. Matthew is standing over me looking panicked saying something though I can not understand what it is. Then all of I sudden I get it, "I'm bleeding," and he's running toward the bathroom. I followed him into the bathroom, stumbling along because I am still not quite awake, to find blood running out of his mouth. So naturally I panicked!!

I ran downstairs to find the instruction papers they sent him home with to see what was supposed to happen. Because I was not quite awake I didn't see anything about blood, athough it was right at the top, so I called the closest friend to come and get Matthew and take him to the ER, Dn Daniel.

By the time Dn Daniel got over to our house I had calmed down a bit, woke up a bit more, finally found the right paper with the right instructions on what to do if there's bleeding, followed the instructions and the bleeding stopped (this was all in about 5 min.) I think the bleeding was already slowing down but by having Matthew hold a piece of ice in his mouth, I guess numb the throat or something, the bleeding stopped all together.

The instructions said bleeding was rare but could occur for up to two weeks after surgery. If bleeding did occur hold a piece of ice in your mouth and the bleeding should stop within 5-10 min. Because the bleeding did stop and Matthew wasn't in any extra pain, we decided no to go to the ER.

Dn Daniel was working on a homily when I called his house at 11:30 pm and talked to his wife. He said he heard Elizabeth talking to me saying "He's bleeding from his neck," he was thinking, what, did someone get stabbed. So he was thankful it was just Matthew and not someone dying. We sent Dn Daniel home with some butterscotch pudding and new found energy to finish his homily. We are so thankful for good friend that will come over at any hour and help us!!

Right before Matthew's bleeding started he had finished his conclusion to his thesis. He is now unofficially DONE! There will still be some tuch up to be done but the majority of the work is now done.

I should say Matthew is doing fine now. He has been holding ice in his mouth for over an hour now and there is no more blood. We are heading to bed. I am still not fully awake so if this post makes absolutely no sense, I'm sorry.
