Just want to wish a happy mother's day to my wife, who not only had to wake up early this morning to drive the family to church after another sleepless night (thanks Hannah), but she had to tolerate my obtuseness as I forgot to get her flowers. Whoops. How thoughtless of me. The problem is, she deserves so much more than flowers; she deserves a whole garden full of bright orange roses, carnations, and tulips (and maybe some bright orange construction cones, just for a little color).
In the past month, she has taken care of the house, the kids, and me during my two surgeries. She has become a busy chauffeur during my convalescence since I haven't been able to drive while taking painkillers. The kids continue to grow and test their limits and bounds, while my wife's ability to be patient and loving with them expands exponentially (she doesn't know it, though). And through all of it, she has packed the house, made plans for the road trip, and done her best to encourage me gently as I try to finish my schoolwork.
And it's no coincidence that I can't find a single picture of her without a child in it; anyone who knows her can immediately see what her priorities are.
As our father confessor, Fr. Gabriel told me, "Anastasia is now dealing with four kids; three of them will grow up though. She's stuck with you."
Honey, I love you so much! Not a day goes by in which you don't amaze me with your grace, dignity, and affection. You're the best wife and mother anybody can ever ask for. But you are more than a wife, and more than a mother: you are our hero.
We love you! XOXOXO!
(PS: I promise to get you flowers next year...)
