Welcome to Cyber Space, Marina Joy Rogers! Somewhere, your older sister Megan is saying, "Well, at least I have the cool Godparents, even if she has the boxer's stance down." Congrats to the entire Rogers Family. Now may I start cracking jokes about the family? Thank you.1) They should make Cory and Grace the Godparents. Since Dn. John & Christine sponsored their family just a couple weeks ago at Chrismation, then it would be some tangled Orthodox Godparenting incestuous family tree.
2) They should put pressure on Ben & Kari to capitalize the "C" in "MaCrina" so that their 6 month old isn't confused with the Roger's infant.
3) They should put some boxing gloves on this baby. GI Jane, eat your heart out! WOO! What a fighter. Look at that pose! Perfect position for a southpaw. By the way Dn. John, southpaws are only successful in overhand pitching for baseball, not underhand softball pitching. Just keep that in mind.
4) Wouldn't it be scary if Megan turns out to be the mellow one?
5) In all seriousness, Anastasia and I are available to return to Alaska to be the Godparents of Marina if necessary. Really. Ok, maybe just Anastasia is available, but that's whom you would want anyway, right? The good half? Ok, just keep that in mind.
In Other News...errr, Now About Us...
Here's the good news: Luke is ok, he only has pneumonia and bronchitis, and he wasn't admitted to the hospital overnight. Here's the bad news: I now owe Mike Habib a huge favor after awaking him, telling him I need to steal his car, and asking him to cover KP (Kitchen Patrol) for me today on only my third day of classes (and first day of KP).
So Luke has been sick since yesterday. He started coughing, and was having trouble breathing last night. He was basically panting all night long (a breath a second--you try it and see how exhausted you get). Stasia took him to a doctor--a PAC, actually--at 8:30am today. The PAC took his vitals, listened to him breath, probably flipped a coin in her pocket, and concluded, "He has advanced pneumonia and you need to take him to the ER right away. They might admit him."
So I had to ask Mike to get me home so I could take my kid to the ER. When we got there, the ER folks kept asking, "Why did you bring your son? What do you want us to do? Who did you see? Oh..." It was annoying. And the admitting staff wasn't nice at all. It's like they don't realize that there are two other hospitals in the area and we don't HAVE to go to theirs. Hello?! It's called good business. Service back here on the eastern side of the country stinks. No joke. It flat out stinks. I caught 4 employees dropping F-bombs at Burger King, in addition to a cook drinking a soda at the grill, and a fry guy eating the fries in the stand on his way to a break. Uh yeah. Service stinks. Oh, and I don't think I can eat at Burger King much anymore. Good luck to anyone who used to like that place. But I digress.
The doc at the ER was nice, and the nurse was nice, so I guess it was ok. They gave him Albuterol for his cough, which we gave to him at 6pm tonight. Hahaha. He got wired like an ADHD kid on crack. Hilarious. He reorganized the pantry (well, the 4 shelves at his level) about 7 times. Jello goes up, jello goes down. Jello goes up, Mrs. Dash goes down. I think he's showing early signs of OCD, but have noooooo idea where he would get that from...
Anyway, he's sleeping calmly now, and that's ALL THAT MATTERS. Right?
Stasia ended up going to a seminarian wives function tonight. Had to introduce herself publicly. AND she lived through it. Next up: The Republican Convention. Look out Sarah Palin! I think I'll make her give a homily someday...or not. She'd kill me...ahem..."martyr" me, cuz that's what marriage is all about.
In Conclusion, I'd like to wish my Gramma Joyce a happy 85th birthday. God grant you many years, Gma!
