The Minnesota Twins can now head south for the winter and go golfing. They might also want to work on their hitting, since they didn't score a run in the most important game of the year. Congrats to the 2008 Chicago White Sox, who needed 163 games to prove that they are the team most worthy of losing to the Tampa Bay Rays in this year's baseball playoffs. I know Dn. John is reading this and disagrees, but someone has to burst the bubble: there will be NO L-Train Series. My brother JP Howell and his Tampa teammates will go through the Sox in 4 games. Sorry. They're loaded and their pitchers are rested. Won't it be great to see Joe Maddon & Ozzie Guillen get into a verbal spar? Maddon would use 5-syllable SAT words that Ozzie wouldn't understand, and Ozzie would use Spanish profanities that Maddon wouldn't understand. Advantage: Ozzie.
Long day at school today. I just got home 20 minutes ago after leaving the house at 8am. Tomorrow looks like a 6-6 day, and Thursday a 6-4 day. Good times. Well, maybe not. At least the lecture tonight on Marriage and Family Life was good. Basically, the speaker gave the tenets of St. John Chrysostom's view on marriage, with the foundation being, "Make your home a little church." Not too shabby. The sweet thing was that I got a ton of ideas for my upcoming homily on marriage, which I will be delivering this Sunday at St. Paul's in Emaus. I've only been married 3 years, but the priest who has been married for 40 wants ME to preach on marriage. Righto....
At any rate, tonight's lecture will be broadcast on Ancient Faith Radio in a month or so.
Speaking of Ancient Faith Radio, go to Ancientfaith.org and search for "Steve Alvarez". An interesting Podcast shows up. Frederica Mathewes-Greene interviewed Steve, the choir director of St. John's, about Native Americans and Orthodoxy.
Have a good Wednesday. Happy October.

Well, I'm hopeful the series will at least be competitive. It will be tough for the Sox to pull it out, but anything can happen in a short series. I'd feel better if Quientin and Crede were playing, but that's okay. The Sox played above expectations this year and even Jerry Reindsdorf said everything from here on out is icing on the cake. Go Sox!
