[Mmmhhmm, i'm adverbing and participle-ing in this post, so be careful.]
For those of you who haven't done so, check out Christine Rogers's's's's's blog at http://rogersfamilyalaska.blogspot.com/
There are normally pretty good pictures of our Goddaughter Megan and her little sister Marina.
Big news in our family today: Luke and I ended up on the front page of the OCA website. Yup. Mike Habib found it last night and sent an email to our friends and family. THen I got an email from one of the Readers at St. Paul's in Emmaus asking if it was actually me. He recognized Luke, but didn't quite recognize my profile. Pretty cool. Check out the picture at OCA.org. It'll probably be there through the weekend.
I also was able to have a quick word with Met. JONAH in the dining hall when he visited the seminary. Here's a copy of that pic.
Actually, here's a copy of the picture of Metropolitan JONAH annointing Luke. This one is on the OCA website.
Isaac and Mary Truelson have been here since Wednesday evening. We've all had a good time hanging out. Mary has tried to do some homework but was as successful as I was--in other words, she's got a lot of work to do on Monday's flight home.
I'm currently watching Oklahoma beat up Oklahoma St in futbol Americano. Here's my bold prediction of the night: Sam Bradford, Oklahoma's quarterback, will be as successful as Peyton Manning in the NFL. He has a great arm and a good football mind. He also has a line that keeps him on his feet forever--that helps too.
Here's the most recent name that has been added to our baby naming list, courtesy of George Rauscher (my bro-in-law's father) : ready? Ok, here it is: "Furmika Dinette". Yup. It's on the list.
The best news of the day: Plaxico Burress, an NFL wide receiver, shot himself in the leg. For some reason, I'm gonna guess that self-inflicted gun shot wounds violate the terms of his $35million contract. I wish someone would give me $35million to shoot myself...wait, that was a rhetorical statement. Don't comment on that.
This just in: my creative juices are running dry. Maybe I need some eggnog with rum. Or kahlua. mmmm, Well, maybe I'll just go to bed. I have one more week of classes and then finals week, but I'll actually have at least 2 if not 3 of my 7 or 8 finals this week. So y'all may not hear from me til next week. I also have a homily to give next Sunday (dec. 7). The homily will be about St. Nicholas (feast day Dec. 6), so if anyone has some good ideas for that, let me know.
I am thankful for all the good people God has put in our lives.
Wishing you a safe weekend,
Matthew

See there is hope for Orthodox unity in America ... the OCA put 2 'Antiochians' on the front page of their website. Or maybe they're just drawn to the cuteness that is Luke (sorry man, I'm sure you're not the reason they chose the picture). I'm okay with either one, I guess.
As far as St. Nicholas goes having just watched a VeggieTales movie where a toy with a skil-saw attached to his arm teaches an entire town about the true meaning of Christmas (sadly I'm not making any of that up), I think you should really play up the Santa Claus theme and focus on how St. Nicholas gave surprise gifts to people. Because we all know that St. Nicholas greatest teaching was that we should unselfishly give to others... and that it's cool to punch Arius in the face.
Sadly, Dn. John really isn't making up the Veggie Tales part. It's quite amusing. I was always a Larry the Cucumber fan.
As for Plexico Burress....well, let's just say that I am not going to give you any money to shoot yourself, in the leg or anywhere else.
Thanks for the shout-out for my blog! :)
It is cool to punch a 70-something year old guy in the face, as long as he's a heretic. That's the lesson I'll teach Luke.
So I should encourage everyone to attach a skill-saw to his arm, huh? Done and done.
Keep the ideas coming.
