Potty training update

Luke is doing so well with potty training. We had a couple little accidents while we were gone today but that was to be expected and we were prepared. He went in the big boy potty twice while we were at the seminary and did very well considering we didn't have his potty seat. (Those bathrooms are cold!!) Luke is upstairs going potty with papa reading the potty book to him. I think Luke likes just sitting on the potty because it is now built in story time. To get him to stay still and relax we read to him. It works most of the time and Luke has the potty book almost completely memorized.

We went to a marriage retreat given by Fr John Breck (sp?) today at the seminary. I should say we went to part of a marriage retreat. I was in and out with the kids a fare amount and we left after the break because Luke was falling apart in the madness and mayhem of the kids room...and developing a slight fever. But, what I heard I liked. Fr John was a good speaker and had good advice for married couples with the husband being the priest. What really stood out to me was when he posed the question "does the church come first or the family come first?" and his answer was yes. Meaning yes they both come first. Matthew and I agreed that this is the best answer we have heard for this question. You need to live the church life, the church should be your life and it should be balanced with the family and there needs. I hate it when people say the church must come first because that means the family comes last. Everything else can be realated to the church so the family gets pushed farther and farther back. It is all a great balancing act and we must strive not to get to far on either side. "Yes" is a wonderful answer for that question and for that I thank Fr John immensely. Maybe if I'm lucky I will get to go back for the evening session...without the kids.

Well it is blasted cold here. 16 degrees this morning and windy...boy is it windy. That darn wind is so cold it goes right through whatever you are wearing. I can't wait for spring!!
