Tim and Chris made us a wonderful breakfast, pancakes! Luke and Hannah were the ones up early this morning, Hannah slept in till 8am. The kids were happy playing with Tim and Chris all morning until we left. They helped Chris water her plants too.
10:36am- On the road again...Stopping at a car wash. It looks like our van went through a puddle of bird poop.
10:47- Hit the freeway.
12:11pm- Made it to the Biggest Ball of twine in Minnesota!! Not super impressive. We spent about 5 min looking at it and taking pictures then went across the street to a park and spent an hour there playing and eating lunch. Matthew went off in search of an oil change but no luck. While we were at the park a wedding party showed up and was standing just across the street from the twine. I thought for sure they were there to take pictures but they ended up heading down the street after a long while.
1:45pm- Back on the road again heading to Sioux Falls, SD.
3:45pm- Potty Stop
4:00pm- Random detour to Pipestone National Monument. Yeah that's were wondering too, what is that. So we went to find out. Well pipestone in a kind of stone, redish, pinkish in color. A soft stone easy to carve and loved by the Sioux Indians way back when. Luke got a pipestone turtle as a souvenir, Hannah got some plastic binoculars. We went on a little walk back to the hills that are mined. The Indians still have rights to mine them and do. The walk was HOT and a bit creepy. On either side of the narrow trail there were hundreds of what looked like spider web sacks but were actually caterpiller web homes with dozens of caterpillars in and on the webs. The catterpillers were everywhere and were doing this weird twitching thing. I tryed to get a picture but it didn't turn out well.
Well after that we went on over to Indian Land. It's just like Disney Land and Alaska Land, but NOT. :) It was pretty lame, it was mostly a huge gift shop. We did pick up a few pieces of pipestone there though.
5:40pm- Finally back on the road, heading toward our hotel. The kids are not happy to be back on the road, everyone is edgy.
6:11pm Welcome to South Dakota. Emma is screaming!! Billboard we just saw "There are many ways to hell but just one way to heavan. Trust Jesus."
6:40pm- Arrived at out hotel in Sioux Falls. (Sioux Falls is the biggest city in SD.) Our hotel has a funny smell like old cigarette smoke and something else. But, we have two queen beds and only paying $60 for the night. Matthew and I walked across the street with Hannah to order pizza from Pizza Hut for dinner. We are all getting tired of fast food though, could really go for a home cooked meal. Luke is literally bouncing off the walls..beds. He has way too much pent up energy. He has been bouncing bak and forth for over an hour.
8:30pm- Let's go to Chuck-E-Cheese!!! Luke and Hannah need to be able to run and be loud for a while. We don't have anything else to do so might as well. Matthew won 250 tickets at ski-ball. It was the highlight of his day!!
10:30pm- Back at the hotel
11:00pm0 Finally go the kids settled down and calm and ASLEEP!!
